After so many disappointments I am happy to report success on the coffee front. Tucked away in the garden district behind Tesco Lotus on the Super Highway is a little cafe called, I think, Cafe U Baan.

Hidden away right in the corner of the huge garden “suburb” this little cafe is part of a garden design studio and worth a visit if you are in the area. Surrounded by peaceful greenery it provides a nice environment to stop off for a drink before heading back into the garden nurseries again.

Better prices than Doi Chaang.

The drinks menu. A latte here will cost you $1.30.

The coffee I had was just the right temperature, excellent strong flavour and although no coffee art one of the best I have had in Chiang Mai. The guy serving seemed pleased to have customers and was pleasant to deal with, as is usually the situation with shop people over here.

Just a brief note on wifi. Practically every cafe here has free wifi available, unlike advanced countries like Australia! You will quite often see the password displayed on the wall or on table. If not ask.

So if you are out and about in Chiang Mai buying plants then pop into Cafe U Baan, bring your iPad and settle in for a relaxed coffee and browse.
