I have put this cafe entry under “Shorties” rather than “Secrets” because although it is not on the main tourist to do list I wouldn’t highly recommend it for the coffee. However it is a visited cafe so I thought I would include it in the blog so you get an idea of the variety of offerings here.

Phuphiang Coffee is a small cafe in the same road as My Place, a cafe included in the post HERE, but closer to the 107. It is a more recent addition to the cafe scene in this area so when I saw it I decided to give it a test run.

The benefit of this cafe over My Place is that it has a more private and relaxed environment, but we’re not talking high class here. This is a local cafe catering more to local Thai people than the farang tourist trade. See the old sewing machine base to the table?

The menu. Remember multiply by three, add two decimal points and add 10%! 40 THB = $1.30.

A passion fruit shake for Gaun and Latte for me.

I would only rate the coffee a 6/10. Not bad but much better at My Place if you can get them to serve it hot enough.

A little ice cream treat on the side!

A little ice cream treat on the side! Yes those are Frostie Cornflakes on the right! $1.30 for this dish.

So there you have it. Nothing outstanding but nice people and another Chiang Mai experience.
