This is really just a teaser for when I cover this bar in action at night-time. The reason I am adding it to the “Shorties” is that in the post about Gaun’s birthday HERE I wrote that we finished the evening at a Thai cowboy bar set in a Lotus pond close to our Moo Baan. Unfortunately I didn’t have my camera with me otherwise I could have captured the evening, which would have provided some wonderful photos. With this in mind I did the next best thing and called in on the way home today to see the place in the daytime.

It doesn’t look, or is much, but it’s a ton of fun once it lights up at night. I ordered a Thai whisky and coke to start the evening and they brought me a 750 ml bottle of whisky and a 1.5 litre of coke – it is that sort of place! I told you it was situated in a huge lotus lake and these photos will show you what I mean.

The bar is set well off the 1001 and you walk past a couple of smaller ponds to get to it past these swan paddle boats. Only in Thailand.

For my good friend Saskia, a hint of the homeland Sas. That is the lotus or Nongjom lake behind Gaun.

For my good friend Saskia, a hint of the homeland Sas. Once again one wonders at the thinking but who cares. That is the lotus or Nongjom lake behind Gaun. That large hill in the background is Doi Suthep, which overlooks Chiang Mai wherever you go.

Gaun helped herself to a couple of samples.

The bar overhangs the lotus pond. The blue shapes you can see in front of it are fish ponds. If you order fish here they will presumably transfer from lake to your plate.

The bar itself. Pure Thai and pretty basic.

This bar will be re-visited soon to see if the “friendly” girls turn up to shake their stuff in a rather attractive way, the five year old takes centre stage and belts out songs and if the band will continue to play farang music if you feed them 100 THB notes! I will report back.
